“Lizzo Album Review”

Everyone knows the Queen, Lizzo! And if you don’t live under a rock, you know that she released her new album on July 15, 2022. Special has many good songs, but Lizzo’s song “The Sign” is by far the best.

“The Sign”! The most explosive and relatable song on her album. Starting big right out of the gate, Lizzo describes her life during the Covid lockdown. She sings about her struggles with haters and how hate comments brought her down. Finally, she mentions her fans, who helped her overcome the hate comments she received. In 2020, she was being bombarded with hate comments from her so-called fans. On her Twitter, TikTok, Instagram and more, she received comments about her weight. Lizzo is known for ignoring people's hate and being very body positive, which is an inspiration for others. This time, however, it seemed like it was too much to handle. She made her pain known to all when she posted a TikTok explaining how hard it was for her and how she couldn't handle it anymore. For a while there was speculation about Lizzo taking a break from her music career. This was something that many people did not want and thankfully she did not end up putting her music on hold, instead finding inspiration to create even more.

Many of the songs on Special have become top hits. Her song “Special”, relates not only to her struggles but the struggles of so many others as well. “I fell off/ but I'm back/ you're back/ I'm worth my weight,” she sings, taking the high road and showing them that she doesn’t care about their commentary and that she is “that b****.” In this next quote she mentions again how she took time for herself and is now ready to come back better and stronger. This album is highly recommended, and each song has deep meaning while also being very up beat. If you have a chance, listen to Lizzo’s latest album, Special.
